John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs that he wrote, many of which were set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver was by far one of the most popular musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver has been the symbol of Colorado for everyone around the world. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite side of the world one from New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk-based group included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first time he heard the early versions that the song was going to be an instant popular. The track was released just several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
