Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. I don't think there's any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver said G. Brown director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for people worldwide. When I travel, I always come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, or someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the very first thing that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit after he performed with small folk music bands. The song was written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version immediately, he realized it was destined to be the next hit single. The song was recorded by the singer within a couple of days when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
